Son of NFL Legend Jerry Rice Chosen in Seventh Round of 2023 Draft

Wide Receiver Stays in the City of Angels

Brenden Rice, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, has followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the NFL. The Los Angeles Chargers selected the former USC wide receiver in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the No. 247 overall pick.

Rice, who played two seasons at Colorado and two seasons with the Trojans, is staying in Los Angeles after being drafted by the Chargers. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound wideout caught 13 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns during his senior year at USC.

Rice is the son of Jerry Rice, who is considered one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history. The elder Rice played 20 seasons in the NFL, catching 1,549 passes for 22,895 yards and 197 touchdowns. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

Brenden Rice will now look to make a name for himself in the NFL and continue the legacy of his father.
