A Legacy of Artistic Partnerships

The BMW Art Car Collection was established in 1975 when French auctioneer Hervé Poulain approached BMW with a bold idea: to create a racing car that would become a work of art. The first BMW Art Car, a BMW 3.0 CSL, was painted by American artist Alexander Calder. Since then, over 20 BMW vehicles have been adorned by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koons, and David Hockney.
