Boston Celtics blow out Dallas Mavericks in Game 1
Celtics take early lead and never look back
The Boston Celtics took an early lead over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals and never looked back, eventually winning 107-89. Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 32 points, while Jaylen Brown added 22. Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 29 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Celtics' hot shooting.
The Celtics started the game on fire, hitting six of their first seven shots from the field. They led by as many as 18 points in the first quarter and never trailed. The Mavericks made a run in the second quarter, but the Celtics were able to withstand it and take a 57-43 lead into halftime.
The Celtics continued to pour it on in the second half, shooting 57.1% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range. They led by as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter before eventually winning by 18.
The win gives the Celtics a 1-0 lead in the series. Game 2 will be played in Boston on Sunday night.
