Peruvian National Team to Kick Off Tournament in June
The Peruvian national football team will make its debut in the 2024 Copa América on June 21, 2024, against an opponent to be determined. The tournament will be held in the United States from June 20 to July 14, 2024.
Peru, led by manager Jorge Fossati, will be looking to build on its recent success in the Copa América. In 2019, the team reached the final before losing to Brazil. Peru also won the tournament in 1939 and 1975.
Fossati, who is the oldest manager in the tournament at 71 years old, said he is confident his team can make a strong run in 2024. "We have a good young team with a lot of potential," Fossati said. "We are excited for the challenge of playing in the Copa América."
Peru is in Group A for the tournament, along with the United States, Colombia, and Paraguay. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
