Bulls Land Derozan In Sign And Trade Deal

Bulls Land DeRozan in Sign-and-Trade Deal

Chicago Secures Veteran Small Forward

Three-Year, $85 Million Contract Agreed Upon

The Chicago Bulls have successfully acquired All-Star forward DeMar DeRozan from the San Antonio Spurs in a sign-and-trade agreement.

As part of the deal, the Bulls will send Thaddeus Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, and a 2025 first-round pick to the Spurs. DeRozan, a four-time All-Star, will sign a three-year contract worth $85 million.

The Bulls have been searching for a reliable scorer and playmaker to pair with Zach LaVine, and DeRozan fills that void perfectly with his ability to create his own shot and distribute the ball.

DeRozan's signing marks a significant move for the Bulls as they look to improve upon their disappointing 2020-21 season. With DeRozan's addition, the Bulls now have a formidable starting lineup that includes LaVine, DeRozan, Lonzo Ball, and Nikola Vucevic.

The Spurs, on the other hand, continue their rebuilding process under new head coach Gregg Popovich. Young and Aminu provide some veteran leadership and depth, while the first-round pick could yield a potential star in the future.

The Bulls have taken a bold step with this trade, adding a proven veteran who can help them compete for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. DeRozan's arrival in Chicago is a sign that the Bulls are serious about ascending the ranks in the NBA.
