Carlisle United F.C. Appoints Mike Williamson as Head Coach

Former Milton Keynes Dons F.C. Manager to Take the Helm at Brunton Park

Carlisle United F.C. has announced the appointment of Mike Williamson as their new head coach, following the departure of Steven Pressley. Williamson, 39, has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Cumbrian club.

Williamson, a former defender, made over 500 appearances during his playing career, representing clubs such as Portsmouth, Newcastle United, and Watford. He began his coaching career with Gateshead in 2018, before moving to Milton Keynes Dons in 2020.

During his time at Milton Keynes Dons, Williamson guided the team to a ninth-place finish in League One during the 2020-21 season. He was named EFL League One Manager of the Month in November 2020.

Carlisle United are currently 18th in EFL League Two, just three points above the relegation zone. Williamson's first game in charge will be against Bradford City on Saturday, January 28.
